SYSTEM PROCESSES -AFFECTED BY VIRUSES

svchost.exe
This is a system process belonging to the Microsoft Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from DLLs. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

• We can open the Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Services, double click Alerter service, and find the executable file path is C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k LocalService and the executable file path of Server service is C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs.
• By calling services in this way can save a lot of system resources and therefore we can find a number of svchost.exe in Task Manager.

In fact, they are just the system services. However, if you find more than six svchost.exe processes in your system, you must be careful and check if certain viruses exist, especially if the executable file of the svchost.exe is NOT located in C:\WINDOWS\system32.

explorer.exe
This process is the Windows Explorer. By default it starts with the system together. If you find the executable file path is not C:\Windows, you must pay attention to it.

iexplore.exe
It is a process generated by Microsoft Internet Explorer. It is located in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\. Until you manually moved its location, if you find this file at other directories, it could be a virus. Sometimes if we do not run IE but the iexplore.exe process still exists in the system, it could be:

1. a virus is running in the name of iexplore.exe

2. a virus is secretly doing bad things through iexplore.exe at the background. In this situation, we recommend you to use antivirus software to scan your computer.

rundll32.exe
This is a process which executes DLL's and places their libraries into the memory, so they can be used more efficiently by applications. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated. It is located in C:\Windows\system32 otherwise it is a virus.

spoolsv.exe
This is a Microsoft Windows system executable which handles the printing process. This process is not critical to the running of the system.If you don't have any printer devices, you should stop this service to save the system resource.
In general, if we find a suspicious process, by carefully checking its name and executable file path, the ordinary virus will certainly be exposed.

MANUALLY IDENTIFYING VIRUSES AND TROJANS

Viruses and Trojans are not completely invisible in process list of task manager. you can find them easily but it will make us to confuse. Now the straightest way to detect virus is to check the active processes in Taskmanager. If you can't identify a virus process in your task manager, the virus is handling techniques to hide themselves.basically three techniques are used by viruses

1. Processes such as svchost.exe, explorer.exe, iexplore.exe, winlogon.exe are default system processes. In this case viruses are using the similar names with simple alphabet modifications for their processes. For example, If you find any processes named svch0st.exe, explore.exe, iexplorer.exe, winlogin.exe, etc. Then you can see the difference. It makes us to confuse & destroy our system.
   
2. Sometimes viruses are brilliant, they have the exact name of the default system processes. for example it may have the name of svhost.exe. Now the way to find is, default system svhost.exe is executed from C:\WINDOWS\system32.. If the svhost.exe is not executing form there & execution of more than 6 svhost.exe, means Virus.. I recommend you to use a best anti-virus at this state.
3. The third & major method is DLL injection. In this case, An virus DLL is injected to system processes. So that It's difficult to find them unless we use professional detective tools.
   

Note: Terminating system processes may be affecting some parts of the system execution.

WORLD'S FIRST 100-CORE PROCESSOR FROM TILERA

Tilera on 26th october announced its new general purpose processor having 100-core chips. It is trying to make its contribution to server market.So, Tilera announces its next generation processors.

the two year old TILE-Gx family chips are targetted at servers for web related functions such as indexing, web search &video search. The chips are having the attribute for the general purpose CPU & they can suppot Linux Operating System and other web serving applications.

• It may be serving as co-processors alongside x86 chips or may be replace the chips in appliances and servers
• INTEL is going to release its Nehalem-EX chip, an x86 microprocessor with 8-cores
• AMD  is going to release its 12-core Opteron chip code-named Magny Cours
• Tilera's Gx100 100-core chip draws close to 55watts power @ maximum performance
  
• These chips have some advantages in performance-per watt  in comparison with x86 chips
• It can be used along with x86 processors. In this combination x86 does the execution of legacy applications& Tilera will do the Web-specific applications
• Anyway, It may costs higher
  

YOU CAN DISABLE STICKY KEYS POPUP DIALOG

Hi friends, In windows Operating Systems, one of the irritating feature is "Sticky keys" alert (appearance of dialog). when we play games or working on some interesting software, It will be raised due to the continuous pressing(5times faster) of sticky keys(SHIFT, CTRL & ALT).you can disable this alert. 

• Go to control panel-->Ease of Access Center
• from that select Make the keyboard easier to use
• Then uncheck the check boxes "Turn on Filter Keys" and "Turn on Sticky Keys". It means that the alert is currently not active. But it will come,when you press the keys.
• To avoid that, you have to go to “Set up Filter Keys” and  “Set up Sticky Keys"
• At 'Set up Filter keys dialog', uncheck the "Turn on Filter Keys when right SHIFT is pressed for 8 seconds"
•  At 'Set up Sticky keys dialog',uncheck the "Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times"
•  Now the Sticky/Filter keys pop-up dialog is disabled.

Note: It can be done in Vista & windows 7. Windows XP also having some controls at Control Panel.

MULTIPLE TIME ZONES IN YOUR DESKTOP

 If you have any friends are family members in abroad. you need to know about their time to chat with them & to do so many things. Now you can set a multiple time zones at Vista and Windows 7. 

• Click on the time shown in the right side of the taskbar.
• Then click on Change Date and Time setttings & click on Additional clocks tab
• Mark (check) the box @ "Show this clock"
• Then set the time zones using google(As i said in my previous posts)
• After that,give name for time zones
• Whenever you want to see the time,just click on the time. you will be getting to know the different time zones on your PC desktop

IMPROVE THE NETWORK PERFORMANCE IN VISTA

Vista SP1 has lot of protections enabled, which can throttle back network performance while playing a media file. This is for ensuring the CPU is having enough available cycles to play the media nicely. Anyway, There may be noticeable network performance deficits, certainly over gigabit.

Now the steps to turn off it:

• Go to START then type regedit and then press enter
• then go towards this way  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Multimedia \ SystemProfile \
• Then double click on the NetworkThrottlingIndex key then enter FFFFFFFF as the Value data.
• when you enter this, the base should set to Hexadecimal

Note: Entry supports values from 1 to 70, and the default is 10. If you enter a numeric value, please make  the Base to Decimal rather than Hexadecimal. The higher the number, the more the throttling is weighted in favour of the network.

BOOST UP YOUR RAM MANUALLY

• go to My Computer & right click on that and select Properties
• There you select Advanced tab & then select Settings under the Performance label
• Then select Advanced in the newly displayed property box

• Another one property dialog will be displayed, then select Custom size 
• Set the minimum size to recommended size & maximum size to "double the value of recommended size". 
• then click on Set button & Restart your PC, Now you can experience the change of incremented speed.

DETECT AND REMOVE VIRUS FROM USB PENDRIVES WITHOUT ANTIVIRUS

Friends, you may be in the search of removing the virus from the USB pen drives & some hard disks without using any Anti-virus software. Ya.. There is a technique for this. Now we can see it in step by step manner.

Step 1: Before Inserting the USB drive, go to Tools --> Folder Options

Step 5: Now you can view the virus in the USB pen-drive with .exe extension and  hidden format.

Step6: Just delete those virus files.

Note: After doing this process, Step 2 should be done in reverse way.

SAY A BYE TO USER ACCOUNT CONTROL(UAC) IN VISTA

The most irritating(but good for security) feature of windows vista is User Account Control. It was designed to protect you from the malicious programs and to get programmers to make highly secured coding. When it disturbs us in each and every time of installation & small changes, it makes us irritated. Now here is a way to turn it off.

• Go to Start--> Control panel
• If ur view is classic, then click on User Accounts
• If ur view is default, then User Account(green in color)--> Family safety Link --> User Account
  
• Click on "Turn User Account Control on or off" 
• Then click Continue on UAC for the last time
  
• Checkbox nearer to User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer  should be unchecked & click OK
• Now restart your PC & say bye to UAC

DISABLE AUTO RESTART IN WINDOWS XP

Hi friends,

               Your PC (Windows XP installed PC) may restart often dueto some errors. This problem comes due to some system crashes. If you want to disable this automatic restart, follow the steps given below

• Go to Start -> Control panel
• Then click on system (if you can't see system in Control panel, click on Switch to classic view at left side).  There will be a window named "System Properties"
  
• In Advanced, you select Settings under "Start up and recovery" label
• Now another window will appear, there you uncheck the automatically restart as shown in thw image below.

• Click Ok on "Start up and recovery" window & Click  OK on "System Properties" window..  After doing this, there won't be any auto-restarts

Note: Hereafter if any system crash happens, system will hang & you have to restart it manually..
