ANDROID 3 HONEYCOMB - DESKTOP AT HAND

Technology has swallowed us. It has made everything now in a finger tip. What is the best and fastest now will be the ancient technology tomorrow. Here let me say something about the new version of Android operating system - the Android 3 (Honeycomb) SDK .An android was developed by Google which adds many extra features while using mobile phones. An android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to begin developing applications on the Android platform. In other word it is the Google Open Source Platform which is used widely now days. This had a tremendous impact in the market where it rises to develop more new advanced concepts.
Advantages Of Android Platform over others

1.    They are root-able: - Android has NEVER put out an update that un-rooted a phone. Where as Apple seems to spend more time and money on stopping the “rooters” than they do on innovation. This Apple terminology for “rooting “is called “jail breaking”. Every single iPhone “update” has disabled jailbreak of phone in process.
2.    The Android platform is “open-source.”  : - An open platform always welcomes innovative ideas from thousands of people. Android uses this functionality. Also it seems to be more secure as thousands of eyeballs are pouring over the code each day. By this the bugs in the code can easily be found out and rectified.
3.    App Freedom: - Android apps are allowed to do whatever they want, like an app running on a real computer. For security reasons, they have to get approval from the user at installation time for the things they will be doing like say “accessing the internet” or “reading the state of the phone.”

Android 3 (Honeycomb) SDK

The first thing you’ll notice about the developer preview is the new Honeycomb UI which stretches the system bar at the bottom of larger displays and gives global status info, while a top action bar allows you to manage your apps. The browser gets multiple tab support, allowing for more comfortable full-screen navigation, and it even supports Chrome bookmark syncing, multi touch support for JavaScript and plug-in, and auto-sign-on into accounts. Consider a home screen for the honeycomb, here there are no button and only navigation   controls are present at the bottom of the screen.
Social Networking:
The pictures are drawn using pixels rather than paint. It can be reconfigured itself depending on what you have to do. Here we have a Gmail box, a calendar, and next the book marks from the browser. We can also have the contacts, YouTube, photographs etc everything in a finger tip. The android supports multitasking.

Feel the Touch (Screen) & Tabbing:
Everything here is 3d and is controlled by gestures. The privacy settings are also used, where everything placed into a form of tablet and have a set of customize settings consisting of wall papers, images, etc. Just pick and drag to move things in the screen. Other than home spirit it has many advantages as well .As in a normal screen tabs are presented for web pages. We can try new tabs, switch between tabs, and close tabs, it’s really like a desktop experience.  And the honeycomb has other desktop features as well.

Let’s look into Gmail. Here this has been completely redesigned for tablets. It has a nice view of design. It has a quick access to all your labels on left side and across the tab there are icons for common actions. What happens when we select a particular mail is, icons are flipped to show the particular actions carried out. Next the maps are interesting features here. It’s really awesome in films but it’s even better in the tablets, really works well in larger screens.

Zooming:
Now on zooming far enough the buildings pop up the ground in 3D and we can even tilt it, rotate and zoom it. Also I would like to talk about the notification system. Now it carries more information including photo, it’s a notification from a person. Task switching is the feature used here.

Apps and Networking :
It shows all the app states at the left side, and if we open it we can know what all we have visited recently. Games and applications are done in very convenient way here, also provides best resolution, more levels, detailed textures.. You tube consist of number of videos; also can search for new videos in honey comb. Find a video to watch, once when video loads we can step forward it, or pause it, stop it etc.
Honeycomb also makes a good entertaining device. It also helps in face to face communication in Google talk. Video chat is also possible here, where hundreds of millions of users chat with desk top or laptops they have. Thus the evolution of honeycomb has many advanced features which make it possible for a user much conveniently.

Honeycomb Google Ebook version:
Now let us switch on to honeycomb version of Google eBooks.  The eBooks has 3 million titles to choose from. The cool thing about this app is that it synchronizes all in the form so the books are available anywhere in a browser in a tablet in a phone, and purchase till the last pages, there is no cable no wire, so it’s like liberty to literacy. Reading the book is very natural too. It looks just like the real thing. We can turn pages, feels we are reading the book. Once when we start reading the book the control at the bottom fades, we can do this because all controls are virtual; these help us to concentrate on the content much. Also we can bring these controls back.
Thus the features of android 3 (honey comb) : -

1.    Experience the full web with best in class web-browsing.
2.    Millions Of books on the go with Google eBooks.
3.    Tablet Optimized Gmail’s.
4.    Watch all your favorite videos on the newly redesigned you tube.
5.    Chat with face to face with hundreds of millions of Google talk users.
6.    Explore your world in 3D with Google Maps.

ORDER WHAT YOU REALLY WANT AND PUT IN ON THIS TAB

If all the tablets in all the towns in all the world, this Samsung Galaxy Tab walks into mine. And I'm no Humphrey Bogart. So lucky me.
Samsung should score a high with the release of the Galaxy Tab, we're giving it an "A" for making this coveted tablet available to the Philippine market. Okay, and now we have to choose between the Galaxy Tab and the Apple iPad. Not that the two gadgets are equal, each has features that distinguished one from the other. We're talking of choice here, something almost everybody has to make come Christmas time.

As the first major Android tablet release, the Galaxy Tab is, hands down, the most worthy challenger to the claim of supremacy made by Apple's iPad.
Okay, so the Galaxy Tab is a lot smaller than Apple's tablet with a screen at  7 inches to the iPad's 9.7-incher. The Tab sports a slick black and white-styled body made of plastic, and light at only 380g. The 7-inch display is bright and colourful enough, and the WSVGA screen resolution (1024x600) is sharp.
The Tab comes with two built-in cameras: one 3MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and also a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video conferencing. Now that's a big bite against its intended competitor.
With 3G connectivity and 802.11n Wi-Fi, the Tab allows you to be truly mobile,   the Bluetooth 3.0 is there for transferring files and streaming to external devices like headphones and speakers.
The inclusion of Android 2.2, or 'Froyo,'the most up-to-date version of Android currently available, makes the Tab a world full of wonders, technically speaking, of course.
The onscreen keyboard is functioning above-par, with crisp you haptic feedback as you type.
Flash support you will find in the Galaxy Tab which means you can watch any web video content from within a browser.
On the homescreen there's a very useful 'Active applications' button which, when pressed, gives you information about all the apps which are currently running on the device.
There are four touch buttons, similar to to those average Android phones – one for home, one for options, a back button and one for search.
On top is a 3.5mm headphone jack. The on/off button is on the right hand side next to the volume controls and further down left the slots for a SIM card and a microSD expansion card. The underside is for the charging and docking connector, while the only external feature on the left side is a small microphone.
We've barely scratched the surface here, boys. This petite beauty has just walked in, and we're not done playing with it. We're sleeping with it for a few more days, then we'll decide if the Samsung Galaxy Tab is really the One that You Want.

IF THE KEYBOARD ON YOUR MOBILE PHONE IS DRIVING YOU CRAZY, HELP MAY BE ON THE WAY

Some people are born with a knack for typing quickly on a mobile phone, clacking away at a virtual or physical keyboard as if it were attached to a desktop computer. But if you weren’t, there may be help, from 3qubits, a mobile phone software company started by two PhD mathematics student at Cambridge University in England. Their solution to tiny mobile keyboards is  a new virtual keyboard they call 8Pen, expected to be introduced on Tuesday.

At first glance 8Pen replaces the traditional area of a keyboard with a multi-colored X and a large black dot. Letters seem to be randomly placed, yet the keyboard creators say there’s a rhyme and reason to every aspect of the new layout.
 8PenThe 8Pen keyboard interface.

Michael Fester, who worked with his partner, Volker Schlue, to create the new interface, said in a phone interview that the new keyboard was born from a discussion about the frustration of typing on small mobile phones and constantly making mistakes.
“We really think this could replace keyboards for small devices,” Mr. Fester said. “At first we are going to launch with an Android version of the software, but we’ve filed a patent on the keyboard and want to build it out for the iPhone, Windows and even game controllers.”
On the company Web site the two 8Pen creators try to explain how to use their newfangled keyboard:
A character is produced by pressing down in the centre, entering any of the 4 sectors, and then passing through either 1, 2, 3 or 4 adjacent sectors in either clockwise or anti-clockwise direction, before returning to the centre. The order of the letters along the edges, and the side on which they are placed, indicate the number of sectors to be passed through, and the direction of the movement, respectively.

Sounds confusing, I know, but the interface is designed to recreate the action of handwriting and from a video accompanying the new keyboard interface, it looks as if it might actually work.
“From a personal use I was very amazed when I first used it,” Mr. Fester said. He said that it took him only 10 minutes to feel comfortable with the interface, and that it didn’t take long before he could type as quickly as on a traditional desktop keyboard.
“It looks confusing, but it’s really just a matter of using your finger to create a number of circles and figure 8s on your phone,” Mr. Fester said.
8Pen is going to have some competition. Swype, a software company based in Seattle, offers a keyboard interface that lets users “glide a finger across the virtual keyboard to spell words, rather than tapping out each letter.” But the Swype keyboard doesn’t rearrange the keys or placement of the letters.

SITEONMOBILE-A NEW TECHNOLOGY TO ACCESS INTERNET SERVICES EVEN IN LOW-END MOBILES

Now everyone can browse the internet and visit their favorite pages on any phone on the market today, even if that phone does not have an installed web browser or support for web browsing software. You can view the content of your favorite website in the form of text messages or can listen to that content on your phone.

HP Labs has launched a new technology called "SiteonMobile", that allows web access via SMS and voice services instead of the conventional webpage-based browsing method. For using this service, the user have to select the most accessed web content. Then SiteonMobile allow the users to pack the web interactions as widgets.

Later it will be delivered on to mobile through SMS or voice in landline connections. Based on cloud-computing, it targets small and medium enterprises to deliver content and services on their website via SMS and voice. The cloud computing service is currently available for free of cost but the enterprises may charge users for SMS and voice services after the project is fully updated.

The aim of this technology is to make the internet available to the masses with low-end mobile handsets. Businesses can utilize this platform to create "TaskLets" or task-based personal web interactions to ensure that only the relevant content is delivered instead of the complete web page. THE NEW IPHONE4 INTRODUCED

Last Monday, Steven P. Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, officially introduced the iPhone4, complete with an internal gyroscope, longer battery life, a 5-megapixel camera and a new front-facing camera that will allow video chats over Wi-Fi.
The iPhone 4, unveiled by Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs, is thinner, has better resolution and adds a front- facing camera. It also sports a new type of glass and a stainless-steel band that Apple says is designed to improve network reception.

Jobs, who unveiled the phone at the company’s developer conference in San Francisco, downplayed the threat from Android. The iPhone was the No. 2 smartphone in the U.S. in the first quarter, with a 28 percent share, he said, citing Nielsen Co. data. Research In Motion Ltd. ranked first, with a 35 percent share, while Android-based devices accounted for 9 percent.
I would imagine that this was one of Mr. Jobs’s least favorite keynote presentations. Millions of people had already seen the new iPhone 4 after Gizmodo got its hands on an early prototype  two months ago.
And although Mr. Jobs still wowed the audience with the sleek design and features of the phone, there were not a lot of new features to show off to the audience. To top it off, Mr. Jobs’s Wi-Fi ran into major trouble and he clearly looked frustrated on stage when he could not properly demonstrate loading a Web page.
The iPhone 4 adds a camera for capturing high-definition video, as well as software that makes video chatting possible. Its so-called retina display packs four times as many pixels in the 3.5-inch screen, delivering higher-resolution text, photos and videos. New iPhone operating-system software, called iOS 4, supports features such as multitasking - the ability to run more than one application at the same time.

The resolution of the “retina display” is as impressive as Apple boasts. Text renders like high-quality print. The effect is that the pixels appear to be painted on the surface of the phone; instead of looking at pixels under glass, it like looking at pixels on glass. Combined with the incredibly high pixel density, the overall effect is like “live print”.If voice quality is more important to you than all the toys, the nicer OS or the video chat, then definitely go for the Sprint.

The durability of the phone’s glass back:
Apple has stated, though, that they’ve improved the durability of the glass. Still, as you probably now know, many glasses may be scratch- and snap-resistant even though they might shatter — acute impact resistance hasn’t been a hallmark of the material.
the design of the new phone:
It seems to me that it’s got less character than previous iPhones. But it’s still incredibly well designed and built, and far less cheap feeling than the plastic-backed 3G and 3GS.

The new video chat feature:
The screen is truly outrageous — you basically cannot see pixels on it. We’re not being hyperbolic when we say it’s easily the best looking mobile phone screen we’ve ever laid eyes on.It’ll probably replace your pocket camera and Flip cam. The iPhone 3GS, though its camera specs weren’t mindblowing, came somewhat close to replacing point-and-shoot cameras for some users.
The battery should last longer, it’s slimmer, the antenna is (hopefully) more powerful, it’s got noise cancellation, its processor is much faster, and so on.
iPhone 4 versus Google Nexus One

"Its resolution is not as awesomely crisp as the iPhone 4's, but is fairly high at 800 x 480 pixels," The Nexus One  , which is Google's latest version of their mobile OS. It enables some cool new features like Internet sharing over Wi-Fi and better support for Adobe Flash, along with faster performance. Android has also become, in our opinion, very close in terms of usability to the iPhone OS, give or take a few things from both parties."

iPhone 4 versus EVO 4G

The EVO 4G posses the biggest challenge to the new iPhone,"according to Signature9. "It will be up to Apple app developers to come up with something truly innovative that takes advantage of the gyroscope to make it a must-have feature that would push someone over to the iPhone rather than the Evo 4G. Plus, while Sprint’s 4G network isn’t live in cities like New York or San Francisco yet, AT&T’s service in those markets doesn’t often get rave reviews"

You should not because:
What we saw today is what Apple’s going to be selling for the next year, probably. But consider just how much Android has advanced in that time? Android 2.2 is pretty wonderful, and I expect a lot of impressive Android hardware to show up in the next few months, not to mention the forthcoming Windows Phone 7.
“Apple and its competitors are steadily bringing better and better technology and software to go with it to the market,” he said. “In that environment, it’s difficult to leapfrog the competition in the same way the iPhone did when it was first introduced.

GAMOLUTION- LATEST MOBILE WITH 3D MOTION GAMING FROM MICROMAX

Nokia tried it with its N-series, Sony Ericsson tried it with its F-Series and now we have Micromax who is the latest entrant which is a world of mobile gaming. The company has announced its first gaming oriented handset named "Gamolution" . The Gamolution is capable of motion gaming and boasts of a decent accessory list that should make your gaming experience the best. It comes with a Bluetooth game dongle, a bunch of lanyards and a few wristbands. You get Game Codes as well as a separate Game Manual.

The phone has a very nice specification.A dual band phone that comes with a large enough 2.4-inch QVGA display. The Gamolution also has a basic 2-megapixel camera that should suffice for casual photography. While it might not be a REALLY good camera phone, you can use it as a very usable webcam. The G4 Gamolution, as the phone is also called, comes with 500-person phonebook memory and capacity to store up to 200 SMS - which we feel is a bit on the lower side.

The Gamolution has a not-very-impressive 850mAh Li-ion battery which can, on paper, provide the phone 5 hours talk time and up to 8 days of standby time. The company is yet to announce a release date and price related information.
